Human Waste / Extremes.
A huge thanks to Paul Waste for putting the following band history together for the site.
Human Waste started in mid 1984 when four 3PBS-FM radio station punk show announcers decided to start a band after attending many punk gigs around town.

They were
Paul Waste (Guitar)
Stan (Bass)
Phil McDougall (Vocals)
Geoff Simmons (Drums)

They were basically a garage punk band just doing covers of Black Flag, Flipper and a few originals.
In 1985 with guidance from Hardcore House they released a demo of original songs and played a few gigs with Depression, Vicious Circle etc...A highlight was playing a 12 minute rendition of “Sexbomb” by Flipper at the Prince of Wales after a Depression show that got mentioned on a few radio stations around town.
The name Human Waste originated from a school project about world war one, thus a lot of the songs was based around this topic and other political views.
In 1986 Phil Mc Dougall decided to leave to concentrate on his record label “Reactor Records”.
They recruited Peter Damage from the local scene to be the lead singer and played a few gigs until Stan decided to leave.
In mid 1986 they changed there name to “Extremes” and became a 3 piece outfit.

Paul Waste (Guitar/Vocals)
Peter Damage (Bass/lead Vocals)
Geoff Simmons (Drums)
Extremes played a lot of gigs around Melbourne and released a LP on the Musicland label called “From Both Sides” they also toured to Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide playing with such bands as Mass Appeal, Arm the Insane, Hard Ons, Depression, Gash, Vicious Circle, Bladder Spasms, Where’s the Pope, Renegade, The Stupid’s from the UK and Permanent Damage.
Extremes were know for there fun style of shows and for not taking things to seriously thus gaining a small following.
In 1988 after a successful tour of the East Coast and South Australia they recorded a second LP at Timbertop studios with engineer/producer Doug Saunders who worked with many Australian Independent punk and metal bands, but unfortunately just after this the band decided to split and the record was never released even though they were sort after by Australia’s leading independent record label “Waterfront records”.
Extremes also published a “fanzine” called “Palliative Treatment” promoting the local scene and also radio shows on 3PBS-FM
The 2nd LP recording is still floating around Melbourne and will hopefully see the light of day in 2008 some 22 years later as well as some live to air recordings and live concert tapes too.
Extremes would like to thanks a few people for all there help back then, Smeer from Depression, Phil McDougall, 3PBS FM and all the announcers, our managers Sarah (Where did you go?) & Rocket Rodney Homebrew, Tim Pitman, Lunga, Jason, Trusty Penny, Nadia and Cheryl.
No thanks to Vicious Circle for burning down our band room… Hahahahaha!!
Kidding!
